Are the letters quoted in the report any DIFFERENT than the substance of letters or other communications that would probably have been dispatched to OTHER state governors?? Who all was PRESENT at the "meeting" in question? It does not appear to me looking at the text cited that there was anything in it that is not consistent with a simple, pro forma "touching of bases". Indeed, it does not even explicitly mention the State of Illinois, much less suggest anything specific (much less improper) about ANYTHING!

I was initially attracted to the Judicial Watch website because of the lawsuit they filed on behalf of Burris. I did seem that it was politically expedient for the Democrates to deny Burris a senate seat. It seemed like the Dems just wanted Blago and Burris to go away. On first blush, it seemed unconstitutional to deny Burris a seat given that Blago has not been convicted or removed from office. So I was curious to find out more about Judicial Watch. But after reading this article and the use of the form letter in order to connect Obama to the scandal, I'm very disappointed with Judicial Watch.
I thought for a moment that we had a champion of the U.S. Constitution in our midst. Instead we have another unethical right wing smear group that is more intent on widening the gap between Republicans and Democrats. We have to start putting the interests of the American people first. And in order to do that we must stop the bipartisan gamesmanship.
Judicial Watch and the Republican Party need to rethink their strategy on how to garner new support for their cause. Their current strategy may well crystalize their conservative demographic, but it does little to attract independents and conservative Democrats. (Didn't you learn anything from the Sarah Palin nomination? Try widen your base.) They need to understand that the segment of the electorate that they are looking to attract are well educated and would be more likely to follow the reasonable thinking of a George Wills, rather than the fear mongering of a Rush Limbaugh.

Get real. Those letters are form letters sent any number of people. I just received an invitation to attend the inauguaration. It looks like a personal invitation designed to make me feel important.
There will be plenty of legitimate opportunities to express disapproval of Barack Obama, but the pettiness of implying that these letters have anything to do with an attempt to sell the Senate seat is dumb, and discredits any future legitimate disagreements.

The two letters that they took excerpts from to claim contacts between Obama, Biden and Blago were actually FORM LETTERS sent to ALL of the GOVERNORS and SECRETARIES OF STATE (republican and democrat alike) Nationwide, and this supposed meeting was not a personal meeting between Blago and Obama, it was actually the Democratic Governors Convention (The Republicans had one also, headlined by Governors Jindahl and Palin). These two form letters were sent to all to introduce the transition team and to ask for input on how to bring infrastucture assistance to all of the states and in one of his weekly addresses President Elect Obama stated very clearly that these letters had been sent out. Hope that clarifies things for you.

Obama have been with Rev Jerimaih Wright for 20 years, been with Bill Ayers as a member of the board, dealings Rezno. Crooked Chicago Mayor Daley, Emmanuel. And Gov Blago all of them involved illegal dealings. All this we cannot trust Obama.

Both of these letters are form letters sent to multiple people with basically just general contact information. This is really not "personal contact" between Obama or his Transition Team with Blagojevich. It's no different than Obama making a speech with several people in the room, which is not what I would call "personal contact." Stop trying to find problems and make accusations when you have no basis for either. This kind of thing fosters more of the division we don't need in this country right now. Are the letters quoted in the report any DIFFERENT than the substance of letters or other communications that would probably have been dispatched to OTHER state governors?? Who all was PRESENT at the "meeting" in question? It does not appear to me looking at the text cited that there was anything in it that is not consistent with a simple, pro forma "touching of bases". Indeed, it does not even explicitly mention the State of Illinois, much less suggest anything specific (much less improper) about ANYTHING!
So far, we have seen nothing beyond A CRUDE ATTEMPT AT CONJURING UP INNUENDO!
Obama had to know
Obama does not need to worry about those who love him; he needs to worry about those who do not love him.
Obviously, if these were form letters, Obama had to know they were sent out to the governors with the signature of Obama on them. Why did Obama not state so in the first place when he was asked about any contact or conversation with the Illinois governor?
Does Obama not know that he should be careful because he (Obama) is extremely unqualified to be US president based simply on all his associations, which he has, since the start, tried to hide from those who did not know about them.

The Burris appointment fiasco created by none other than Harry Reid is a disgrace! Harry Reid has the mentality of a barnyard chicken and do his associates who joined him! Harry Reid is entrenched, old, and in my opinion brain dead! What are doing with such as that in our Senate and not to mention in the position he holds!
Governor Blagojevich appointed Mr. Burris as he should have, and in the best interest of the people of the State of Illinois. Further the appointment is only to last until the end of this Senatorial term! If Mr. Burris wants to be re-elected he can then campaign for the position along with all the others if he so wishes!
This is the United States of America and the laws states but is not being enforced that we as citizens are "INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!" The idea of "GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT IS UNAMERICAN!"! Rebuttal to Attempted Smear of Obama
Here we go. It's such a pity that before the guy even gets there the smears are starting. #1, the contact was PRIOR to "Rod's" artrest. #2, Obama specificaslly denied any contacts having to do WITH THE SENATORIAL APPOINTMENT (not ANY contacts). And #3, the "contact" was part of a mass mailing in which Obama solicited advice and support from ALL GOVERNORS (as well he should). Disappointing
I was initially attracted to the Judicial Watch website because of the lawsuit they filed on behalf of Burris. I did seem that it was politically expedient for the Democrates to deny Burris a senate seat. It seemed like the Dems just wanted Blago and Burris to go away. On first blush, it seemed unconstitutional to deny Burris a seat given that Blago has not been convicted or removed from office. So I was curious to find out more about Judicial Watch. But after reading this article and the use of the form letter in order to connect Obama to the scandal, I'm very disappointed with Judicial Watch.
I thought for a moment that we had a champion of the U.S. Constitution in our midst. Instead we have another unethical right wing smear group that is more intent on widening the gap between Republicans and Democrats. We have to start putting the interests of the American people first. And in order to do that we must stop the bipartisan gamesmanship.
Judicial Watch and the Republican Party need to rethink their strategy on how to garner new support for their cause. Their current strategy may well crystalize their conservative demographic, but it does little to attract independents and conservative Democrats. (Didn't you learn anything from the Sarah Palin nomination? Try widen your base.) They need to understand that the segment of the electorate that they are looking to attract are well educated and would be more likely to follow the reasonable thinking of a George Wills, rather than the fear mongering of a Rush Limbaugh.

Get real. Those letters are form letters sent any number of people. I just received an invitation to attend the inauguaration. It looks like a personal invitation designed to make me feel important.
There will be plenty of legitimate opportunities to express disapproval of Barack Obama, but the pettiness of implying that these letters have anything to do with an attempt to sell the Senate seat is dumb, and discredits any future legitimate disagreements.
