Me thinks another civil war is coming. The hate is overwheming. I feel your frustration and believe your thoughts are 100% right. Our nation does seem to be headed for a civil war of some kind given the hate that exists today. Presently, no one person has come up with an "answer" yet. We all just seem to be waiting for some type of an event to motivate the masses in a singular act or series of acts that will rectify the direction our government is taking us in. It angers me to standby and watch as this man takes more and more control away from us and there is simply nothing we can do! I no longer believe in calling our political leaders or faxing my frustrations or to that end even voting them out of office. Our vote, they tell us, is our most powerful tool. I don't see anything in this article that hints at a lawful resolution of the Obama Commerce Department/ACORN corruption of the 2010 Census -- since ACORN was added several weeks after the deadline for application, is there not some legal remedy on behalf of The People? Also, the fact that over 300,000 hirees are "risky", tells me I sure don't want them coming to my door -- I won't answer it! The canvasser could be a convicted identity-theft criminal, even a child molester or rapist; how would we know?

On April 23, 2009 around 10am a black census taker came to my door, since I had already filled out and mailed a census, I told him that I couldn't let him fill out another one. He then asked to come in and look around. I told him that he could not and although his Official Census ID was visiable, I asked him for his ACORN ID. I know that no real census taker would not ask to come into my home to look around. I shut the door and locked it and ran to the back to see 3 black men in a red car start to pull in my alley and driveway, but when they saw me, they went straight. I called the police and reported the incident. Again, I had to call the police at 2am on 4/24 to report the theft of our lawnmower out of our shed by the alley. I can't prove anything, but I took this as a threat that they thought they could do anything they wanted to. If there is a next time you can bet I'll be waiting with my own protection.
Wait until they come to my door. I am almost always armed at my home and very seldom is it concealed.
I am not advocating violence nor the threat of violence, that is just how I roll. Weapons just do not do you any good for self defense if they are not on your immediate self.
But good lord it will be amusing to see the look on their faces when they come to the door and I or my wife (she carries as well) politely tell them "HELL NO" they cannot come in and look around.
Can anyone tell me, is there any requirement or legal standing for them to come in to my home? If not, I will formally file a complaint with the local police and the sheriff if they so ask....

Since the census does not start until 2010 I question the truthfulness of your post. As to already mailing in a census form I doubt that since they are probably not even finished printing them yet.
I received the "American Community Survey" in late May 2009 after receiving two letters from the U.S. Census Bureau telling me I should be expecting it within a few days and how I am legally responsible to fill it completely and honestly. This "survey" IS part of the 2010 census. After partially filling in this invasive, unconstitutional questionnaire I decided that it was far beyond what I feel the government has the right to know. I was contacted by the Census Bureau via telephone because I hadn't returned the "survey" and I stated I needed to explore my rights as an American tax paying citizen as to the questions I was legally obligated to answer. Everyone has to wake up!!! This ACS is horrendous! I was informed by the caller that ALL of the questions on the survey were approved by congress and it indeed was part of the 2010 census!!! I am hoping that everyone who receives this survey refuses to fill it out. The original U.S. Constitution authorizes a census every ten years for enumeration purposes only. Everyone with whom I have spoken regarding this "un-American Community Survey" is absolutely unaware of its existence. I was unaware of it as well until I received it in the mail, along with the threat (promise?) of fines and/or imprisonment for failing to complete it. Before you doubt anyone who says that they have already received, filled out and mailed in a 2010 census you really should do a bit of research. The U.S. Census Bureau has a PDF of the American Community Survey available on their web site if you are concerned enough about this issue to educate yourself. I am astounded that this taxpayer funded (millions$$$) has been pushed through congress right under our noses. I am even more concerned by the average American's complacency regarding this issue. I am feeling vulnerable because I am becoming more and more aware of the fact that "our" government no longer is "of the people, by the people" but a separate threatening institution bound and determined to make peons of every citizen of this country. United we stand, divided we FALL!! Are we all ready for the fall because it is happening... the American people and the U.S. government have become divided.

My guess is that a lot of census takers will have problems with their cars when they return to them and that many will return to headquarters with empty backpacks.
This census may very well be the LAST. IMHO the US will not emerge from this DEM regime unscathed.I can only imagine to what form of government will digress. The post by Carol Sutton is filled with errors, the first being that NO US census forms have been sent. She might have received a state or local census, but that's entirely different and unrelated to the decennial US census.
At this and all phases of the US census no one should be asking to enter your home. The first phase, just completed, was to collect physical data on the type, number and location of dwellings using a handheld computer while standing outside, and required interaction with occupants ONLY when external evidence didn't reveal the info sought. (e.g., is this a two-family house, or no?. How many apartment units are in this building?)
the next phase, which doesn't happen until next year, will involve a huge USPS mailing to all the dwellings ID'ed in the first phase. If you receive, fill out, and return the mailing via the post office, no one will call on you. Only if you don't fill it out will someone try to track you down.
I want ACORN to stay out of this process. But since the mailings are to be keyed against physical addresses VERIFIED by GPS data, it's hard to see how ACORN can have a major effect. Yes, ACORN could go out to the locations where mailings haven't been returned and falsify the numbers of people living in those locations, but they would be nibbling at the margins. Yes, ACORN could go into neighborhoods and urge poor people to falsify the numbers on their mailings. (But that would be dangerous, for them and those who falsify). And they will have difficulty creating census forms for which no address info has already been collected and fed into a computer --- it won't be as easy as ballot stuffing or falsifying registration names.
And yes, they can seek out illegals, but the Census has never distinguished between illegals and legals --- it's obligation under the Consitution is to count "persons".
My advice is to be vigilant, and to challenge anyone who tries to pass himself off as a US Census worker by asking you questions.

This survey was initially called the census long form in the 2000 census. It has a few more questions but is basically similar. Who is responsible for this invasive, unconstitutional "survey"? Well since it has been around for at least ten years...I'd say the corruption has just been honed by congress and those who claim to represent us. I say evil is lurking in the shadows and those of us who are finally being smacked in the face with reality should spread the word to others so we might become united again.

My concern is with the survey, I think they used to call this the long form. Now it really is long, 14 pages! In the past I have ignored it and sent it back blank. The information has nothing to do with the count of the citizens as required by the government. This is personal information and I am again planning on not answering any of those questions. Are we really legally required to answer this intrusion into our private lives? Are there any plans to address this issue in the legal system?

During the later part of last year when I learned of ACORN, I began my own search about them to see if what they were being accused of was perhaps true. I found myself sitting at my desk for hours just searching link after link about them. I came across a website hosted by none other than Wade Rathke, the founder of ACORN and SEIU (www.chieforganizer.org) What I found on this website was more of the same "social justice" "financial justice" ways to organize, ways to intimidate, and so on.
ACORN is not just in the USA..they have organizations in over 20 countries. Now the idea of this organization having any part in our Census scares the crap out of me for the simple reason that the Census is used to determine districts, where tax money goes, etc.
Obama promised transparency in his Administration and it is now very clear to me that he is perhaps the most corrupt politician to date. Chicago, Ayers, Wright, Flegher, ACORN produced him and his ideals. Controlling the census is just one more step for him to use to (as he said in a Meet The Press interview 10/26/06)"be a great President and change the way the United States is viewed by the World.
perhaps I got off topic here but I would hope someone will also visit Wade's website and more information will be brought to the light of day about ACORN, etc.
If you go to usajobs.gov you'll find numerous jobs for Bureau of Local Census Office positions. Many of those positions list as one of the duties, to recruit LOCAL enumerators through the local office facilites and to provide a plan for that local recruitment. Doesn't jive with ACORN being paid to "refer" enumerators does it? No where can I find how the "enumerators" are to be screened, if they are to be bonded, or even if such hiring is scheduled to take place. The whole thing is screwy. Next week, I intend to try to locate a "local census office" and find out how, where, when I may apply for a job as an "enumerator". Maybe if enough of us try to apply, there will be a basis for Judical Watch to proceed with investigating ACORN and it's connection to the census.
In today's Pravda news from Russia there is an article entitled "America's decent into Marxism is happening with breathtaking speed"(found on Drudge) It is a sad day in our country when the former Soviet Union describes the similarities between them, and Us. Yes America is dysfunctional to say the least. The so called elected officials play chaos to keep themselves in power. The solution is to unite the country before the next election and vote them one and all out of power. Some may say we can't do that things would go to hell in a hand basket.In my humbled opinion it couldn’t get any worse than it is now. This is change we can believe in. The Bilderberg group will have no say in who runs and who can’t run for office.The local Republican party and the Democratic Party in power will have no say. This would be the solution were waiting for and I believe it can be done. I know there are some educated people with common sense that will run under these conditions. We can take back our great nation and bring it back to what it is supposed to be Of the People and for the people.
I hate to hear all the bad news about ACORN and the Census, because it makes it hard for the legimate Census employees like me and the people who trained with me to do our job. We have recently been verifying addresses of the homes in our area, and I only had a couple of homeowners object to or question the purpose of my visit. That was because I followed policy and identified myself. Now that this news is coming out so loudly (and I'm glad you uncovered it), it is going to be more difficult for Census workers to do their jobs in the next phase. That means that the Bureau will have to advertise more to assure that people will comply with real Census enumerator's requests. The cost of the advertising, added to the cost we will pay if the Census is inaccurate, may be more than we are willing to pay.
Better squash ACORN. And I am ashamed to say that I am from Arkansas, where ACORN got started as I understand it.

I feel your frustration and believe your thoughts are 100% right. Our nation does seem to be headed for a civil war of some kind given the hate that exists today. Presently, no one person has come up with an "answer" yet. We all just seem to be waiting for some type of an event to motivate the masses in a singular act or series of acts that will rectify the direction our government is taking us in. It angers me to standby and watch as this man takes more and more control away from us and there is simply nothing we can do! I don't see anything in this article that hints at a lawful resolution of the Obama Commerce Department/ACORN corruption of the 2010 Census -- since ACORN was added several weeks after the deadline for application, is there not some legal remedy on behalf of The People? Also, the fact that over 300,000 hirees are "risky", tells me I sure don't want them coming to my door -- I won't answer it! The canvasser could be a convicted identity-theft criminal, even a child molester or rapist; how would we know?

On April 23, 2009 around 10am a black census taker came to my door, since I had already filled out and mailed a census, I told him that I couldn't let him fill out another one. He then asked to come in and look around. I told him that he could not and although his Official Census ID was visiable, I asked him for his ACORN ID. I know that no real census taker would not ask to come into my home to look around. I shut the door and locked it and ran to the back to see 3 black men in a red car start to pull in my alley and driveway, but when they saw me, they went straight. I called the police and reported the incident. Again, I had to call the police at 2am on 4/24 to report the theft of our lawnmower out of our shed by the alley. I can't prove anything, but I took this as a threat that they thought they could do anything they wanted to. If there is a next time you can bet I'll be waiting with my own protection.

I received the "American Community Survey" in late May 2009 after receiving two letters from the U.S. Census Bureau telling me I should be expecting it within a few days and how I am legally responsible to fill it completely and honestly. This "survey" IS part of the 2010 census. After partially filling in this invasive, unconstitutional questionnaire I decided that it was far beyond what I feel the government has the right to know. I was contacted by the Census Bureau via telephone because I hadn't returned the "survey" and I stated I needed to explore my rights as an American tax paying citizen as to the questions I was legally obligated to answer. Everyone has to wake up!!! This ACS is horrendous! I was informed by the caller that ALL of the questions on the survey were approved by congress and it indeed was part of the 2010 census!!! I am hoping that everyone who receives this survey refuses to fill it out. The original U.S. Constitution authorizes a census every ten years for enumeration purposes only. Everyone with whom I have spoken regarding this "un-American Community Survey" is absolutely unaware of its existence. I was unaware of it as well until I received it in the mail, along with the threat (promise?) of fines and/or imprisonment for failing to complete it. Before you doubt anyone who says that they have already received, filled out and mailed in a 2010 census you really should do a bit of research. The U.S. Census Bureau has a PDF of the American Community Survey available on their web site if you are concerned enough about this issue to educate yourself. I am astounded that this taxpayer funded (millions$$$) has been pushed through congress right under our noses. I am even more concerned by the average American's complacency regarding this issue. I am feeling vulnerable because I am becoming more and more aware of the fact that "our" government no longer is "of the people, by the people" but a separate threatening institution bound and determined to make peons of every citizen of this country. The post by Carol Sutton is filled with errors, the first being that NO US census forms have been sent. She might have received a state or local census, but that's entirely different and unrelated to the decennial US census.
At this and all phases of the US census no one should be asking to enter your home. The first phase, just completed, was to collect physical data on the type, number and location of dwellings using a handheld computer while standing outside, and required interaction with occupants ONLY when external evidence didn't reveal the info sought. (e.g., is this a two-family house, or no?. How many apartment units are in this building?)
the next phase, which doesn't happen until next year, will involve a huge USPS mailing to all the dwellings ID'ed in the first phase. If you receive, fill out, and return the mailing via the post office, no one will call on you. Only if you don't fill it out will someone try to track you down.
I want ACORN to stay out of this process. But since the mailings are to be keyed against physical addresses VERIFIED by GPS data, it's hard to see how ACORN can have a major effect. Yes, ACORN could go out to the locations where mailings haven't been returned and falsify the numbers of people living in those locations, but they would be nibbling at the margins. Yes, ACORN could go into neighborhoods and urge poor people to falsify the numbers on their mailings. (But that would be dangerous, for them and those who falsify). And they will have difficulty creating census forms for which no address info has already been collected and fed into a computer --- it won't be as easy as ballot stuffing or falsifying registration names.
And yes, they can seek out illegals, but the Census has never distinguished between illegals and legals --- it's obligation under the Consitution is to count "persons".
My advice is to be vigilant, and to challenge anyone who tries to pass himself off as a US Census worker by asking you questions.

Americans are being hoodwinked by the U.S government and those Americans go along freely and willingly with just about anything the government wants. Some people just don't want to recognize corruption so they disregard it. If you take the time to look up the pdf on the u.s.census bureau website and read through the ACS thoroughly you will see that our government wants us under its control. This survey was initially called the census long form in the 2000 census. It has a few more questions but is basically similar. Who is responsible for this invasive, unconstitutional "survey"? Well since it has been around for at least ten years...I'd say the corruption has just been honed by congress and those who claim to represent us. I say evil is lurking in the shadows and those of us who are finally being smacked in the face with reality should spread the word to others so we might become united again.

Census survey
My concern is with the survey, I think they used to call this the long form. Now it really is long, 14 pages! In the past I have ignored it and sent it back blank. The information has nothing to do with the count of the citizens as required by the government. This is personal information and I am again planning on not answering any of those questions. Are we really legally required to answer this intrusion into our private lives? Are there any plans to address this issue in the legal system?

ACORN is just the tip
During the later part of last year when I learned of ACORN, I began my own search about them to see if what they were being accused of was perhaps true. I found myself sitting at my desk for hours just searching link after link about them. I came across a website hosted by none other than Wade Rathke, the founder of ACORN and SEIU (www.chieforganizer.org) What I found on this website was more of the same "social justice" "financial justice" ways to organize, ways to intimidate, and so on.
ACORN is not just in the USA..they have organizations in over 20 countries. Now the idea of this organization having any part in our Census scares the crap out of me for the simple reason that the Census is used to determine districts, where tax money goes, etc.
Obama promised transparency in his Administration and it is now very clear to me that he is perhaps the most corrupt politician to date. Chicago, Ayers, Wright, Flegher, ACORN produced him and his ideals. Controlling the census is just one more step for him to use to (as he said in a Meet The Press interview 10/26/06)"be a great President and change the way the United States is viewed by the World.

If you go to usajobs.gov you'll find numerous jobs for Bureau of Local Census Office positions. Many of those positions list as one of the duties, to recruit LOCAL enumerators through the local office facilites and to provide a plan for that local recruitment. Doesn't jive with ACORN being paid to "refer" enumerators does it? No where can I find how the "enumerators" are to be screened, if they are to be bonded, or even if such hiring is scheduled to take place. The whole thing is screwy. Next week, I intend to try to locate a "local census office" and find out how, where, when I may apply for a job as an "enumerator". Maybe if enough of us try to apply, there will be a basis for Judical Watch to proceed with investigating ACORN and it's connection to the census.

I hate to hear all the bad news about ACORN and the Census, because it makes it hard for the legimate Census employees like me and the people who trained with me to do our job. We have recently been verifying addresses of the homes in our area, and I only had a couple of homeowners object to or question the purpose of my visit. That was because I followed policy and identified myself. Now that this news is coming out so loudly (and I'm glad you uncovered it), it is going to be more difficult for Census workers to do their jobs in the next phase. That means that the Bureau will have to advertise more to assure that people will comply with real Census enumerator's requests. The cost of the advertising, added to the cost we will pay if the Census is inaccurate, may be more than we are willing to pay.
