ID's for illegal immigrants in Oakland

It's disturbing to see that Oakland City leaders fail to recognize that ID cards for illegal immigrants are bad for the City of Oakland.

The citizens that reside in Oakland deserve better than what they are getting from their elected leadership.

The time has come to check and reverse the growth of government and do away with out of control spending which has become the norm in not only Oakland, but the State of California and the Federal government. If I ran my personal finances like our local, state and Federal governments run theirs... I'd be out on the street, with no stimulus funds to bail me out of my sorry situation! (Not, that I'd want it anyways, since I believe in personal responsibility.)

Many residents that were supportive of the proposal said that they wanted the City ID card because they, "wanted to be recognized in the community." I would have thought that allowing someone to express themselves in a public forum, while being heard by community leaders, and having what they say taken into consideration when decisions are made would be "recognition" enough, especially since most people who have immigrated into this Country don't have the freedom of speech back home where they originally came from.

If we ever expect to solve the illegal immigration problem in America, we must remove the incentive that drives people to come here illegally. Incentives such as, college tuition grants, drivers licenses, illegal employment, amnesty, health care and welfare for illegals encourages people to come here and exploit our Country and take advantage of the American tax payer. We shouldn't be surprised that people want to come to the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave to get a free hand-out. After all this is still the best Country on Earth! The sad thing is, Oakland City Council Members are hurting our chances of keeping it that way!

No way to let ID cards to Illegal Immigration

I think it would be WRONG idea because they did not US Citizens and not pay TAXES. They sneaked USA and broke Law and not right to give them ID Cards because they MUST learn ENGLISH because they cannot read our words on the sign posts. Also Illegal Immigration would not afford to pay any Insurances ... if if they hit cars then people will SUE Illegal Immigrations but if they do not have any insuance come first before start drive. I think it would not fair. They MUST pay to be citizen then know everything. Because they could be cheated and Crazy. I am VERY disappointed with Oakland. WHY do they (Oakland) do them! I am very against Illegal Immigration. They who sneak USA and broke laws and not pay Taxes and I paid taxes to cover to all Illegal Immigration mothers who give Anchor babies. DISGUSTFUL and shameful.

Illegal Aliens

Can someone expalin to me why they are pandering to these ILLEGAL ALIENS? They are in this Country ILLEGALLY, for God's sake. This has to stop. Isn't it against the law to aid and abet an ILLEGAL ALEIN? If so, how are the getting away with this. Don't our laws mean anything anymore?

I can't say the ILLEGAL ALIENS are completely to blame for the shape of our economy, but they are a BIG part of the problem. The ILLEGAL ALIENS send BILLIONS upon BILLIONS out of this Country every year, money we will NEVER see again. Does this help our economy?

How about the BILLIONS the American taxpayers fork out for the ILLEGAL ALIEN BABIES, the schooling of them, the medical care and the list goes on, and on, and on.

How about the MILLIONS upon MILLIONS paid to jail ILLEGAL ALIENS for the crimes, then the cost to deport them. Does this help our economy?

Then you have these activist groups, the Catholic Church and the ACLU that want AMNESTY for these ILLEGAL ALIENS. It would be absolute suicide for this Country if AMNESTY were granted to the 20 million or so ILLEGAL ALIENS. We have more and more people out of work everyday and they want to add another 20 million to this Country? I say, "NO"!

If AMNESTY were ever granted to these 20 million ILLEGAL ALIENS, you can bet big money that 3 years from now, there would be ANOTHER 3-5 million ILLEGAL ALIENS demonstrating on our soil for AMNESTY.

An end MUST come to this illegal immigration. The perfect tool we have so far is E-Verify. It MUST be used by ALL businesses and Government Social Services. EVERY employee must be checked! If they are illegal, they are to be dismissed!

I believe it is time for all 50 States to pass a State law, like Arizona, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina and a few others. It is time for these ILLEGAL ALIENS to go back to their home Country and get out of this Country. The problems they are causing will not go away until the ILLEGAL ALIENS are out of this Country.

It's time for ZERO TOLERENCE with these ILLEGAL ALIENS? It's time they get back to their own Country they came from and get out of a Country they don't belong.

I'm glad the LEGAL

I'm glad the LEGAL immigrants have been able to integrate into the communities they live in, assimilate, and all other friendly, legal parts of the process most new foreign residents attempt to do when they want to be accepted, but any community government or organization that finds ways around immigration laws to make things easy for ILLEGALS to settle on soil paid for by taxpayers is a slap in our collective faces.

i suggest that if laws can be acceptibly bent and manipulated to accomodate people who've broken the law in one area of it, those other areas of the law ought to be wide open for breaking as well.

what's the difference? pardon me? you're telling me that city governments are doing it to keep the peace? i think the city governments are doing it more because they're intimidated by the large numbers of ILLEGALS and the havoc they'll cause because they can't get a job - LEGALLY - and bust up the city. i think giving any large group of illegal aliens american benefits that other legal immigrants and citizens can't otherwise get without fighting in a court of law is a bandaid approach to settling anticipated increases in crime and a pathetic attempt at creating, at best, a mediocre increase in taxes. i also think any intelligent legal citizens living in those communities that have capriciously ignored their legal residents importance will find the legal citizens moving out of the community and the fickle government will find their tax base down in this already-deplorable economy.

i think those city governments and federal programs supporters that aid illegals, except for emergency, life-threatening support, have their collective heads up their butts and are now thinking bass-ackwards. it'll be those supportive politicians who'll be looking for work right along side the illegals and the already thousands of unemployed legal citizens who can't gain a legal income.

California is overran and out of control!

Maybe the only reason this passed is because the voters are mostly offsprings of illegals or illegitimate voters. Now they want their parents, cousins, inlaws etc. to come join them. This is just a bridge to amnesty. Good news is CA only has about 4 or 5 days worth of cash left to run itself. CA government is out of control because of the illegal mexican influence there.

Biased comments can be easily disregarded and discarded as ignorant and biased. For those who claim to know about this subject, please be kind to provide quantitative data. Qualitative observations are ignored.

For those of you that think illegals do not pay taxes; they do. Not only that, but they do not get refunds like the rest of you. In essence, money gets collected but doesn't get paid out. Hence, the money is paid out to the baby-boomers. I don't think anyone dislikes free money. Check out the IRS website on how to file taxes and you will find your answers there.

Lastly, for the gentleman who claims that all of the money exiting the country through money sent to relatives in Mexico. Thankfully, NAFTA exists and American companies in Mexico reap the rewards of such money. There are mostly MNEs (multinational enterprises, mostly American) in Mexico. Hence, American jobs are supported in various industries.

Well to the people that are racists or prejudice or whatever, get your facts straight because people like illegal immigrants come to this country in the search of a better future for their family. And, if this country is going to advertise so much opportunities to those desperate ones and in the end you don't want to welcome them, then WTF!!!??????

If you going to speak with so much criticism I suggest that you first put yourself in their shoes for not even an hour, so you have at least a clue of what it is to be one of them... better yet try to live like them... then you'll know.

But yeah i'm really glad that they are getting the opportunity to be notice as human beings and not just ILLEGAL aliens (what type of term is that anyway?).
Though, it's sad that this country haven't grown enough to leave all that BULlshit behind, I recognize that the country is in crisis but its everyones fault primarily. What part of illegal don't you get? There are ways to become a citizen "legally", those kind of immigrants are welcome. The ones that sneak in and use taxpayer funded programs are stealing from everybody. And don't try to tell me "they pay tax's", BS, if their illegal, they get paid under the table. And if all the US jobs are going to Mexico, why are the illegals still coming here?

Aiding and abetting are illegal, taking funds that your not entitled to is illegal, paying for programs that support illegal activity with taxpayer funds is illegal. Hello, we have teachers that need jobs, and schools that need teachers, this is way more important than supporting illegal immigration. Jobs are another point, I don't want my job given to an illegal just because he has an ID card now. If you were to really look at it...yes they do come here or shall i use your phrases "sneak"... but hey by giving them their own ID's that would be even greater because they would be able to pay taxes i think that the only reason our country is going BANKRUPT is because there is alot of immigrants that stay here and paid under the table.....all im saying that with their IDs they would be able to give back to America!!!!!
