Thank you Judicial Watch for staying on top of this issue. When the FDA recently required Merck to update the warning language for Gardasil, I was happy yet frustrated. My daughter developed epilepsy since vaccination by Gardasil. She experienced Grand Mal Seizures 5 and 20 days after her 1st and 2nd injections respectively. Yet her VAERS information lists her condition as 'syncope' (fainting) a symptom that has always been listed as a common occurance with this vaccine. Because seizure disorders/epilepsy commonly occur in those ages 18 -20, cases like my daughter's are being 'grouped in' with the those who faint or pass out immediatly after their shots. The adverse reactions to this vaccine are real and can no longer be ignored.
The purpose for this letter is to enlighten all the health care workers, mothers, fathers and/or guardians of teenage girls and all others who know someone who is considering or has gotten the Gardasil vaccine. My daughter Kristi, 16 years old, received the last of the three injections on May 20, 2008.This past summer she started to complain of constant fatigue. had fainting spells and random bouts of aches and pains. On Sept. 11, 2008 she was sent home from school complaining of headache, spine pain, confusion and symptoms of a bladder infection. She was given antibiotic by the OB-GYN and sent home. The next day she woke up screaming for help as she couldn't feel her arms and legs, was gasping for air, vomiting,severe back pain and fever. At the ER she was given antibiotics and sent home as she was told she "may have passed a kidney stone." Over the next two weeks her health was deteriorating and after her fourth visit to the ER she was finally admitted to Westchester Medical children's hospital for the next ten days. Over the course of her stay she was seen by teams of doctors from Neurology, Rheumatology, Infectious Disease, Endocrinology, Adolescent Medicine, Urology and Cardiology.She endured TWO spinal taps, many MRI's, CAT scans, sonograms, ultrasounds, and blood workups until her body could no longer emit any blood. She was on a morphine drip for severe headaches, liquids for dehydration,Percaset for allover pain, and two anti nausea medications for severe vomiting and acid reflux.She was checked for meningitis, lymes disease, lupus fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue,, hoshimoto's disease, kidney disease and multiple sclerosis.Everything showed up negative. She became so sleep deprived because her heart rate was in the 30 range that a moniter constantly kept her awake. She started to hallucinate and was developing blood clots in her legs from lack of use. Since there was no diagnosis, the doctors decided to send her home to be in her own environment. She returned home having to use a wheelchair, unable to walk and was referred to a physical therapist. Out of desperation we continued to go to specialists hoping to get some kind of answers. One highly recommended Rheumotologist who works out of Hackensack Hospital in New Jersey told Kristi (after a short physical assesment and no bloodwork) that she was showing signs of "pain amplification syndrome" and she needed to "throw away her crutches" and "go see a psychiatrist to get better because there was nothing physically wrong with her." The extreme lack of professionalism, compassion and awareness that this doctor showed made us even more determined.Coincidentally,after that visit, an angel in the form of an email came to me. It was from an ER nurse in Westchester Medical , (who was familiar with Kristi's case ) telling us of another girl who was admitted with the same symptoms as Kristi; down to every detail. This girl was finally diagnosed with a severe reaction to the Gardasil vaccine. After three days of researching the internet, I found hundreds of cases almost exactly the same as what Kristi endured with even some girls dying from stroke and heart attacks. I am now convinced that this is what happened to Kristi as opposed to being sheer coincidence.The symptoms can start as early as the first shot or begin to show 4-6 months after the third shot is given, as was Kristi's case.This past Friday, February 6th 2009, Katie Couric devoted a segment of her broadcast exposing the horrible stories of theses young women who were convinced to take this vaccine, believing it was safe and now are losing their lives because of it. Girls as young as 9 years old are being given this vaccine. I beg you to PLEASE do the research on the reactions before you or someone you know is considering the Gardasil vaccine. Merck, the manufacturer of the drug refuses to get involved and tells all victims to deal with their health care provider .PLEASE pass this on to everyone you know who could be a potential victim. Kristi continues to recover, six months after she fell ill and will soon return to the healthy, active and beautiful seventeen year old that she deserves to be. My daughter was given the vaccine and has had to undergo a series of cervical freezings and rechecks for the past 3 years trying to remove all of the suspicious cells which the doctor states is HPV. Prior to the vaccines all of her paps had come back normal. After the vaccines she has had all abnormal paps. She is now 18 and is still undergoing treatment to remove all of the HPV cells. I have 2 other daughters and they WILL NOT be getting the shots. Especially since several of my eldest daughters friends have had to go through the same procedure after receiving the shots.

My middle daughter is 9 years old and when we were at her doctor's office about two weeks ago she was given the first shot for the vaccine. Her doctor ranted and raved about how awsome the shot was. My daughter is 15, she recieved all 3 shots, she had alot of the fainting in school, and depression she has add and was on meds also since these shots shes had alot of joint pain, and she saw a therapist because we thought she was just depressed, shes been to the pediatrician 25 times in 2 months for aches and pains in her jaw,chest, neck, back and legs. Yesterday, I was frantically searching for answers in order to make an informed decision whether to "Gardasil" vaccinate my child or not. You see, when I called her pediatrician's office to request vaccination school records, I was informed I "had" to give my child this Gardasil vaccination, because otherwise, they will not admit her in school. I didn't think anything of it, figuring this vaccine was just like any of the others prior vaccinations given to her before, so I made an appointment, but I stayed puzzled as to why, this specificly new vacice was "mandated" and not optional!
I mean, I've seen Gardasil's TV commercials, "to be one less case", but I thought it was "optional", not "mandatory"!
It felt to me, as an FDA or CDC "imposition", so I started my own on-line web research, and read so, many controversies about Gardasil, that now, I am frankly scared. And on top of that, when I told my husband, he said "I would be responsible if anything happened to her". That just croaked me!

You mention many fears about "what we don't know", but we DO know that HPV can lead to cervical cancer and 3,900 women die each year from that.

I hope I've answered your fears. I can't tell you to get your daughter vaccinated (sounds like your doctor already has done that). But I can tell you that we got our 19-year old daughter vaccinated because of my wife's history of abnormal Pap smears and concern about what that can turn into later. My daughter had all 3 shots with no complications and is doing fine.
PS - You may have bigger concerns - it sounds like your husband is not a very caring person or full partner in your marriage. I will pray for you.
My oldest daughter is 11, and she just got her first dose of Gardasil. I talked to a friend today that warned me about having the other 2 shots in the series done. The doctors office was very good at not telling us that this drug has been associated with over 40 deaths of girls and young women. They told us that it is protecting them from cervical cancer, not a sexually transmitted disease that causes cervical cancer. My daughter is 11 years old, she is NOT sexually active, and won't be for quite some time. Why would we need to have her vaccinated for a sexually transmitted disease. We will NOT be having the other 2 shots in the series done to our oldest daughter, and our younger daughter who is 5 will NOT receive any doses. We will homeschool our children before we allow someone to tell us that we MUST have them vaccinated with Gardasil to attend public school. I wish we had known all of the information that is tried to be hidden about Gardasil before we had even 1 dose given to our daughter. I don't think we will be able to forgive ourselves if she gets sick or worse because we MADE her have a shot that she really didn't need. We plan on telling the doctors office that she will not be coming in for the additional 2 doses of Gardasil. I wish I had talked to my friend BEFORE this last doctors appointment, we wouldn't have allowed them to give her Gardasil.

Your daughter gets the shots at an early age, BEFORE sexual activity, because that's when you contract HPV (you don't get vaccinated AFTER getting sick, do you?). Boy, you sure are a busy little bee. Fliting from one response to the next to spread your message of how uneducated and fear based everyone else it, compared to yourself. Your information is a little slighted though, and there are not 6 million cases of cervical cancer each year, rather 11,100 in America with less than 3% of those cases resulting in death. Who is really spreading "fear" by repremanding this mother for not getting her daughter vaccinated with a drug that has been proven to have detrimental adverse reactions in little girls that have previously had no health issues. There ABSOLUTELY has been over 40 deaths attributed to Gardasil by the VAERS system. They are not reported on the VAERS site (vaccine adverse reporting site) until they have been confirmed as a result of the vaccination where it is reported. There are more to come, certainly. There is clear deception by the pharmaceutical companies to think this vaccine and others are safe. Many are genetically manufactured - not even the true virus itself (under the illusion that this is safer than the true virus). There is enough aluminum in this vaccine to put a persons health at risk, especially those who are deficient in certain vitamins or those that do not eat healthy.

gardasil problems
My daughter was given the vaccine and has had to undergo a series of cervical freezings and rechecks for the past 3 years trying to remove all of the suspicious cells which the doctor states is HPV. Prior to the vaccines all of her paps had come back normal. After the vaccines she has had all abnormal paps. She is now 18 and is still undergoing treatment to remove all of the HPV cells. I have 2 other daughters and they WILL NOT be getting the shots. Especially since several of my eldest daughters friends have had to go through the same procedure after receiving the shots.

Anyway, your mercury question is misleading; some vaccines contain thimerosal, which contains a small amount of mercury but has extremely less toxic effects than pure Hg (no vaccines have pure Hg in them). Can you only take the first shot?
My middle daughter is 9 years old and when we were at her doctor's office about two weeks ago she was given the first shot for the vaccine. Her doctor ranted and raved about how awsome the shot was. She told me many woman pay 400 to get it. I thought she would know because I hadn't even heard about it before then. After reading the possiblity of what could happen I want to kick myself for trusting some one else when it comes to my children. Sarah already is on a med. for adhd and a bigger dose than most her age because of her sevre ADHD. Can I stop the vaccine or is it safe at this point to finish? my 15 yr old daughter
My daughter is 15, she recieved all 3 shots, she had alot of the fainting in school, and depression she has add and was on meds also since these shots shes had alot of joint pain, and she saw a therapist because we thought she was just depressed, shes been to the pediatrician 25 times in 2 months for aches and pains in her jaw,chest, neck, back and legs. I will never recommend that shot again I wish I could go back and decide NOT to get her the shots. I pray for all the girls N women suffering from this misery. I CHOOSE TO OPT-OUT OF GARDASIL - WHY MANDATORY?
Yesterday, I was frantically searching for answers in order to make an informed decision whether to "Gardasil" vaccinate my child or not. You see, when I called her pediatrician's office to request vaccination school records, I was informed I "had" to give my child this Gardasil vaccination, because otherwise, they will not admit her in school. I didn't think anything of it, figuring this vaccine was just like any of the others prior vaccinations given to her before, so I made an appointment, but I stayed puzzled as to why, this specificly new vacice was "mandated" and not optional!
I mean, I've seen Gardasil's TV commercials, "to be one less case", but I thought it was "optional", not "mandatory"!
It felt to me, as an FDA or CDC "imposition", so I started my own on-line web research, and read so, many controversies about Gardasil, that now, I am frankly scared. And on top of that, when I told my husband, he said "I would be responsible if anything happened to her". That just croaked me!
I don't want her to become another one of those freak adverse effect statistics, so my question is:
Is Gardasil, in fact an FDA approved & mandated "required" vaccination for school admission, or just another hoax way to make Merck Pharmaceuticals Company and doctors have a more lucrative bu$iness? As it is even for boys,

You mention many fears about "what we don't know", but we DO know that HPV can lead to cervical cancer and 3,900 women die each year from that.

I hope I've answered your fears. I can't tell you to get your daughter vaccinated (sounds like your doctor already has done that). But I can tell you that we got our 19-year old daughter vaccinated because of my wife's history of abnormal Pap smears and concern about what that can turn into later. My daughter had all 3 shots with no complications and is doing fine.
PS - You may have bigger concerns - it sounds like your husband is not a very caring person or full partner in your marriage. I will pray for you.
My oldest daughter just got her first dose of Gardasil yesterday
My oldest daughter is 11, and she just got her first dose of Gardasil. I talked to a friend today that warned me about having the other 2 shots in the series done. The doctors office was very good at not telling us that this drug has been associated with over 40 deaths of girls and young women. They told us that it is protecting them from cervical cancer, not a sexually transmitted disease that causes cervical cancer. My daughter is 11 years old, she is NOT sexually active, and won't be for quite some time. Why would we need to have her vaccinated for a sexually transmitted disease. We will NOT be having the other 2 shots in the series done to our oldest daughter, and our younger daughter who is 5 will NOT receive any doses. We will homeschool our children before we allow someone to tell us that we MUST have them vaccinated with Gardasil to attend public school. I wish we had known all of the information that is tried to be hidden about Gardasil before we had even 1 dose given to our daughter. I don't think we will be able to forgive ourselves if she gets sick or worse because we MADE her have a shot that she really didn't need. We plan on telling the doctors office that she will not be coming in for the additional 2 doses of Gardasil. I wish I had talked to my friend BEFORE this last doctors appointment, we wouldn't have allowed them to give her Gardasil.

Your daughter gets the shots at an early age, BEFORE sexual activity, because that's when you contract HPV (you don't get vaccinated AFTER getting sick, do you?). Your information is a little slighted though, and there are not 6 million cases of cervical cancer each year, rather 11,100 in America with less than 3% of those cases resulting in death. Who is really spreading "fear" by repremanding this mother for not getting her daughter vaccinated with a drug that has been proven to have detrimental adverse reactions in little girls that have previously had no health issues. The facts are reported again and again, that the HPV strains are contracted by millions of people each year, but most often go away by themselves.
You should be ashamed of yourself for scolding any parent that chooses to make the decision not to vaccinate their young innocent daughters against a sexually transmitted disease. Check out pillman's postings on the Merck website. Clearly he is paid by Merck and/or Glaxo (Cervarix) to post these things. There ABSOLUTELY has been over 40 deaths attributed to Gardasil by the VAERS system. They are not reported on the VAERS site (vaccine adverse reporting site) until they have been confirmed as a result of the vaccination where it is reported. There are more to come, certainly. There is clear deception by the pharmaceutical companies to think this vaccine and others are safe. Many are genetically manufactured - not even the true virus itself (under the illusion that this is safer than the true virus). There is enough aluminum in this vaccine to put a persons health at risk, especially those who are deficient in certain vitamins or those that do not eat healthy.
