Rep. Conyers Won’t Bother Reading Health Care Bill Before Vote

Comments

Don't read the bill?

Conyers et al, here is what you swore to do: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

If you don’t read the bills you are voting for, how can you defend your oath? If it’s too difficult to read, don’t vote for it. No one said supporting and defending the Constitution would be easy!

Maybe Rep Conyers’ wife Monica found the Ethics rules too cumbersome to read as well.
