FDA’s $7 Million Cover Up

You aren't telling the whole story

I am an advocate with the National Cervical Cancer Coalition. I respect your right to question the safety and efficacy of Gardisil or other HPV vaccines. However, when reporting on Gardisil, you have been utterly irresponsible and seemingly biased.

While it is correct that deaths have been reported to VAERS for people who had been given the Gardisil vaccine within the prior year, you fail to clearly indicate that not a single one of these deaths has been conclusively linked to the vaccine and that for many, the vaccine has been conclusively ruled out as the cause of death. Similar fear mongering has come out of Britain as well, where it was reported that a young girl died from the vaccine when in fact her autopsy revealed that she died from cancer which had previously gone undiagnosed. You also fail to explain that some adverse effects, such as Guillain-Barr Syndrome, are common to ALL vaccines, including even that for the flu. And you fail to make clear that VAERS reports can be made by anyone and are not verified or controlled for quality in any way. Moreover, you fail to indicate that while 28 or so deaths may have been reported in the U.S., more than 28 MILLION doses have been given. And let us not forget the facts about HPV that you fail to mention: the only known cause of cervical cancer is HPV; 80% of ALL women in the U.S. will contract HPV in their lifetime; the vaccine protects against the 2 strains of that virus which cause 70% of cervical cancer as well as 2 additional strains that cause genital warts in both men and women; more than 10,000 U.S. women will contract and more than 3,000 of those will die from cervical cancer this year alone; similar number of men will contract and die from other HPV-related cancers (such as cancers of the throat, penis and anus).

I'd be curious to know the real reasons for your vehement disapproval of the Gardisil vaccine. Other vaccines, such as that for smallpox, result in a much higher adverse reaction rate and yet you aren't warning about that. And still other vaccines, like that for meningitis, are not nearly effective as the HPV vaccine is, yet again, you don't seem to have any problem with that vaccine. Perhaps in your next jab at the HPV vaccine you could explain where your bias comes from.

In short, if you are going to report on the safety and efficacy of the HPV vaccine, you should provide complete information to your readers so they can make informed decisions. We are talking about people's lives and health here and providing incomplete information is as bad as providing the wrong information.
