Position: Digital Communications Associate

Location: Washington, DC

Minimum Education: BA/BS/Undergraduate

Judicial Watch, Inc., a conservative, non-partisan educational foundation, promotes transparency, accountability, and integrity in government, politics, and the law.

As a member of the organization’s communications team, the Digital Communications Associate will assist in the creation, editing, and publishing of content on the organization’s digital communications platforms including the webpage, various social media platforms, email management software, and any other projects as required.

Primary responsibilities include: aiding in the maintenance of the Judicial Watch website, assisting in the implementation of various new media projects, managing various IT projects within organization and working with outside vendors to ensure project completion, producing and editing online copy including various email communication to Judicial Watch supporters, editing and producing videos, and providing intermediate level IT support to staff.

This position reports to the Director of New Media. The Digital Communications Associate also works closely with the Director of Public Affairs and the Director of Development.

Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Publish, edit, and update website pages through the use of a CMS.
  • Ensure quality of webpages by copyediting, proofreading, ensuring consistent style and brand implementation, etc.
  • Assist in the structuring, development, and writing of web content.
  • Work with outside consultants to resolve technical issues.
  • Provide IT support to staff.
  • Provide weekly reports of website and digital communication statistics to relevant staff.
  • Intermediate level editing and production of videos.
  • Coordinate and edit outbound email campaigns.
  • Assist in copywriting and editing of email campaigns.
  • Assist Director of Public Affairs with press conferences, educational panels and special events.
  • Assist in the conception, development, and management of various new media projects.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required. Major in communications, marketing, or journalism would be helpful. Technical degrees will also be considered.

Experience: Preferably, one to two years of experience in digital communications. Motivated, recent graduates with applicable skill sets will be considered.

Skills and Other Qualifications:

  • Solid written communication and editorial skills.
  • Advanced computer skills with experience in social media platforms, web publishing and management tools (WordPress).
  • Understanding of IT related issues and ability to troubleshoot issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Self-directed.
  • Works well independently and in project settings.
  • Able to see projects through from start to finish with little oversight.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in HTML.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
  • Any graphic design or developmental experience a plus.
