In this op-ed, Charles C.W. Cooke discusses a 2013 affidavit calling for David Gregory’s arrest, which was obtained by Judicial Watch. Gregory held up an illegal high-capacity magazine on Meet the Press during an interview with NRA’s Wayne LaPierre in December 2012, which focused on the Newtown shooting. DC attorney general Irvin Nathan decided not to prosecute Gregory, which is why Judicial Watch, representing Legal Insurrection, filed a FOIA lawsuit against DC’s government to obtain documents regarding Gregory’s non-prosecution. This quote from Cooke explains how DC’s gun laws apply differently to Washington’s media elite:
So it is with the regulation of trivialities. David Gregory and NBC News will always find their way around the law. Soldiers returning from duty, naïve hunters, and the politically disfavored, by contrast, will not. “There ought to be a law,” cry the do-gooders — forgetting all the while that laws are for the little people.
