Ethics Complaints and Investigations – Independent Counsel

Robert Ray
Robert Ray, Independent Counsel during the Clinton Administration was tasked to investigate Whitewater, the Whitehouse E-mail Scandal, Travelgate, Filegate, and the Lewinsky scandal.  Both the Hatch Act and the governing Department of Justice regulations prohibit the Independent Counsel from running for office while serving as independent counsel.  Before final reports were issued on his outstanding investigations against the Clintons and the Clinton White House, Independent Counsel Robert Ray was making plans to run for Senate against incumbent Senator Robert Torricelli.  In response, Judicial Watch filed ethics complaints.
