Judicial Watch client Sheryl Hall was Manager of Computer Operation in the Clinton-Gore White House when she broke the Clinton-Gore e-mail scandal. Ms. Hall recounted to the media
, courts and the U.S. Congress how she witnessed the suppression of over 100,000 pages of e-mail evidence in legal proceedings involving
Filegate, Chinagate and the Monica Lewinsky scandals
. These “missing e-mails” had not been produced despite subpoenas from Judicial Watch, Congress and independent counsels.
Ms. Hall came forward even though computer employees had been told by the Clinton-Gore Administration to keep quiet about the missing e-mails or face jail time and job loss.
Ms. Hall also questioned the legality of a scheme to use the White House computer system, known as the White House Official Database (WhoDB), for political and other improper uses. When Ms. Hall did not fall into step with this plan, she was the subject of harassment and retaliation. When Ms. Hall complained that WhoDB, which tracked Democratic Party donors, was in violation of the Hatch Act and other federal laws which prohibit government resources from being used for political fundraising, Ms. Hall was forced out of her career staff position at the White House.
Ms. Hall also testified about a White House plan to delay Judicial Watch’s Filegate lawsuit until the Clinton’s left office.
CASE STATUS
Judicial Watch fought on Ms. Hall’s behalf until 2003, and her cases are now closed.
