March 29, 2002

Guests:         Suna Ozgur Cura, Attorney

                    Mustafa Durna, Publisher

                    Mert Ilkutlug, Journalist

                    Ozgul Firlangec, Attorney

The Turkish delegates, who met with Chris Farrell, Judicial Watch’s Director of Research and Investigations, were all participants in Parliamentary Monitoring Committees (MFKOMs), a new movement in Turkey “whose goal is to make Parliament more responsive.”  MFKOMs exist in 47 provinces in Turkey.

Our guests were interested in how Judicial Watch, as a “grass roots organization,” and a non-government agency was able to successfully oversee the actions of government officials and agencies and hold them accountable.
