Fast and Furious Cover-up Rewarded in Appointment of New ATF Director
MARCH 24, 2015
Todd Jones resigned from his post as ATF Director last week, which resulted in Thomas Brandon, formerly the agency’s Deputy Director, being assigned Acting Director. Brandon is known for covering up the Fast and Furious scandal by not firing anybody who was responsible for it. Meanwhile, Judicial Watch has pending FOIA litigation against this agency and the DOJ. One of JW’s FOIA lawsuits against the DOJ resulted in the release of a trove of Fast and Furious documents. Read more about those documents here.
This quote from the article explains why Brandon covered up this scandal:
This easily researched history reveals Brandon’s key role in keeping the truth of Fast and Furious hidden from Congress and the public. Had heads rolled, angry ex-employees might have turned whistle-blower and implicated higher-ups at DOJ and even the White House. The game of mutual extortion; employee silence in exchange for job security, achieved its purpose.
