Judicial Watch filed a FOIA lawsuit against the Department of Human and Health Services (HHS) to obtain records about Jonathan Gruber’s consultancy and contract agreements with the department. Gruber received a $400,000 contract from HHS, and at least $4 million from the federal government since 2000. This lawsuit comes as a response to a FOIA request that the HHS did not response to. Below is commentary Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, offered on this lawsuit:
“HHS doesn’t want to disclose Mr. Gruber’s key role in Obamacare because his statements could be used by the high court to upend Obama’s illegal tax subsidies,” Fitton said. “Why else would HHS go into full cover-up mode about contracts with one man?”
