About 140 IRS employees who were fired from their jobs for committing tax fraud or carrying out misconduct will be coming back to the IRS. In addition, Judicial Watch has revealed that IRS employees who evaded paying taxes received bonuses. This information comes from the IRS inspector general, who revealed that 70% of IRS employees receive bonuses. Read more about this from Judicial Watch’s Corruption Chronicles blog here.
This quote from the article highlights the irony of all of this:
Federal employees were delinquent on $3.4 billion in taxes, according to a government report, but their bosses rewarded the scofflaws with millions of taxpayer dollars in bonuses. IRS staff who had tax code violations received millions of dollars in bonuses. Some of these workers — who are dealing with the lives of Americans, especially their confidential information — garnered bonuses even though they were disciplined for substance abuse, threatening violence against fellow workers and supervisors, illegally claiming unemployment benefits while they were still employed, and misusing government credit cards.
