There have been claims that the CIA was running an interrogation center at the CIA annex in Benghazi, Libya, prior to the 2012 terrorist attacks. These claims assert Libyan militia members were being held at this prison, but a CIA spokesperson has denied these claims. In relation to this, Judicial Watch’s FOIA lawsuit against the Pentagon regarding the Benghazi attacks resulted in the release of 486 pages detailing U.S. Africa Command’s military response to the attacks. Read more about these documents here.
Here is more information about the type of detainees who were held at this alleged interrogation center, as quoted in the article:
Fox News further cited multiple intelligence sources who served in Benghazi as saying, “There were more than just Libyan militia members who were held and interrogated by CIA contractors at the CIA annex in the days prior to the attack. Other prisoners from additional countries in Africa and the Middle East were brought to this location.”
