Pentagon produces Benghazi docs—finally
FEBRUARY 20, 2015
The Pentagon released nearly 500 pages about the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack to Judicial Watch in response to a FOIA lawsuit JW filed against the Department of Defense. These documents, although heavily redacted, reveal the U.S. Africa Command Operations Center (AFRICOM) drafted a military response to the attack a day after it occurred. In addition, they show the Obama administration knew an al-Qaeda affiliated group committed to establishing an “Islamic State” was behind the attack, yet lied to the American people that a YouTube video spurred it. Read more about these documents from Judicial Watch here.
Judicial Watch’s president Tom Fitton also commented on these documents, as quoted in the article:
“It is extraordinary that we had to wait for over two years and had to force the release of documents that provide the first glimpse into the military response to the terrorist attack in Benghazi,” said Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch.
