Illegal Alien Smuggles His Own Into U.S.

Here is a classic case of government negligence with a strong twist of irony. The agency in charge of protecting our country’s borders, the United States Border Patrol, hires an illegal alien who ends up smuggling illegal aliens in his Border Patrol vehicle for hundreds of dollars a pop.

It may sound unbelievable, but U.S. Border Patrol officials have admitted it and you can see their rather bizarre explanation in The Washington Times.

The agent, Oscar Antonio Ortiz, used a fraudulent birth certificate to obtain the Border Patrol job. Then, he smuggled illegal aliens from his native Mexico into the United States through a border area near Tecate. His fee ranged from $300 to $2,000 a person. Of course, he used his United States Government-issued vehicle to do this.

Apparently, government officials learned a lesson from this and have decided to “re-screen” all 42,000 current employees at U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The screenings include FBI background and criminal history records as well as a check of databases at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Makes you wonder why they didn’t do this in the first place. After all, the priority mission of the Border Patrol is “preventing terrorists and terrorist weapons, including weapons of mass destruction, from entering the United States.”
