Hillary More Popular Than Obama

President Obama is doing such a despicable job running the country that most Americans wish a notoriously polarizing former senator lived at the White House instead of the embattled commander-in-chief.

A few months after a national poll revealed that most of the country opposes a second term for Obama, a new survey divulges that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is much more popular than the president. The powerful one-two punch certainly illustrates mass discontent with the president since he’s only completed the first year of his term and the controversial former First Lady got whupped in the Democratic primaries.

Clinton has long been considered a divisive political figure with lots of undesirable baggage accumulated, in large part, during her husband’s presidency but also during her years as a New York senator. But, hey, she’s better than the guy running the Oval Office, according to most of the nation’s voters.

An appropriately titled piece (Red flag for a sinking Obama: Americans now prefer Hillary Clinton) published this week in a national newspaper points out that the latest CNN/Opinion Research Poll buries the Hillary-over-Obama stats to instead focus on a triumphant Obama matchup with former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

In that contest, Obama tops Palin by double digits in a hypothetical 2012 general election showdown, even though she hasn’t even announced that she’s running. The president also tops other Republicans expected to run in 2012, such as former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

The same poll offers unfavorable ratings for numerous politicians from both parties, indicating that citizens are fed up with Washington. The two most powerful lawmakers in Congress—House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader harry Reid—both got dismal ratings, Pelosi with a 38-50 favorable-unfavorable mark and Reid with a 28-35 favorable-unfavorable ratio. Not surprisingly, Reid is trailing any conceivable Republican candidate in his reelection as Nevada senator this November.

Republicans fared better with Huckabee getting a favorable-unfavorable rating of 43-29; Romney 40-34 and Newt Gingrich 38-38. Palin got a 39-55, up from her other recent numbers.
