ACORN Workers Arrested In Fla.

In the latest of numerous criminal investigations involving a publicly financed leftist group that conducts fraudulent voter registration drives, warrants have been issued in Florida for the arrest of nearly a dozen workers who falsified information during the 2008 presidential election.

Miami-Dade County prosecutors say the employees of the Chicago-based community group with strong ties to Barack Obama, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), falsified hundreds of voter registration cards before last year’s presidential election. So far six of the ACORN canvassers have been arrested and five others are on the run.

More than half of the 1,400 new voter registration cards submitted by the group were fraudulent, according to officials, who disclosed that forms contained the names of well-known actors and singers who didn’t live in the area. After noticing numerous discrepancies on cards from one concentrated area, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement reviewed the data and found that 888 contained “registrant information that was not able to be matched to a living person.”

This simply marks the latest of a growing number of criminal probes into ACORN’s shady operation to recruit new voters in low-income, “underserved” communities. Just last month a high-ranking ACRON official pleaded guilty to conspiracy for organizing a scheme in Nevada that illegally paid workers—many of them “lazy crack heads”—to register new voters.

For its corrupt 2008 drives alone, ACORN faces criminal charges in New Mexico, Pennsylvania and now Florida. In previous elections, ACORN has been busted for falsifying information to register new voters in numerous other states, including Wisconsin, Missouri, Ohio, North Carolina and Colorado to name a few. In 2007 the group settled the largest case of voter fraud in the history of Washington State after seven workers were caught submitting about 2,000 fake registration forms.

ACORN’s well documented history of fraud led to an overdue congressional investigation that determined the so-called community group is a criminal enterprise. The probe revealed that ACORN has repeatedly and deliberately engaged in systematic fraud and that it hides behind a paper wall of nonprofit corporate protections to conceal a criminal conspiracy on the part of its directors, to launder federal money in order to pursue a partisan political agenda and to manipulate the American electorate.

It hasn’t stopped the tax dollars from flowing into its coffers, however. In fact, the radical leftist organization with offices nationwide recently got a multi billion-dollar infusion for “neighborhood stabilization activities” from Obama’s monstrous economic recovery bill that was supposed to create jobs and stimulate the ailing economy.
