Forcing Radicalism On U.S. Students

The public school professor who claims the 2001 terrorist attacks were committed by U.S. Government operatives is profiting by forcing students to purchase his essay comparing President George W. Bush to Adolf Hitler.

It’s bad enough that the taxpayer-funded University of Wisconsin Madison hired Kevin Barrett to teach his radical version of Islamic Studies – tainted with U.S. Government conspiracies–in July. Now he requires students who take his course to purchase a $20 book of essays that promotes his ideas and features his very own Bush-Hitler similarities.

For instance, he writes: “Like Bush and the neocons, Hitler and the Nazis inaugurated their new era by destroying an architectural monument and blaming its destruction on their designated enemies.” Various Wisconsin legislators – including Democrat Governor Jim Doyle–have called on the university to fire Barrett, who is known for his heavy-handed anti-American rhetoric and says that U.S. operatives blew up the Twin Towers to spark war in the Middle East.

Never the less, he remains at the school and on the public payroll. In his spare time Barrett is an active member of the conspiracy theory group, Scholars for 9/11 Truth, an association of students and academics dedicated to exposing the government’s lies and cover-up regarding the attacks.

University provost Patrick Farrell acknowledges that Barrett holds “unconventional personal opinions,” but dismisses them because Barrett has assured him that students will be free and encouraged to challenge his viewpoints. They won’t, however, be free to show up in class without his $20 essay.
