Sheriff Threatened With Bomb To Free Illegal Immigrants

The sheriff’s department in a north west Colorado county has received a letter threatening to bomb the neighborhood unless illegal immigrants are released from its jail.

Ironically, the violent threat came days after a Homeland Security report warned of right wing extremist violence by Americans who oppose illegal immigration, among other things. That scathing report completely omits any reference to radical liberal or Muslim groups but rather focuses on traditionally conservative citizens worried about issues such as abortion, firearms restrictions, the loss of U.S. sovereignty and, of course, illegal immigration.

Perhaps the feds will amend their report to include a deadly threat to the Weld County Sheriff’s Department which patrols Colorado’s third largest county, an area of about 4,000 square miles. A letter, written in Spanish, threatens to put bombs around Greeley, the county seat and principle city, unless illegal immigrants are released from jail.

The letter says that after April 20, the bombs will be set with the “intent to kill the most number of Americans” if the jail does not free immigrants who are being held for deportation. There are currently 58 inmates on immigration holds at the county jail waiting to be picked up and deported by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The Weld County Sheriff’s Department was recently involved in a high-profile investigation that busted more than 1,300 illegal immigrants using fake or stolen Social Security numbers to file tax returns. The identity theft probe focused on a local tax preparer who catered to illegal aliens and helped them file returns with fake or stolen documents.

Although the department had obtained a judge’s warrant to search the tax preparer’s database, a different judge recently ruled that the search was illegal because it violated the privacy rights of her clients. The ruling means that the records can’t be used in the county’s criminal identity theft investigation so the violators will face no consequences.
