VIII. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION EXPLANATIONS. (/ndicale partofreport.) (Part Ill): have received the approval the Judicial Council the Seventh Circuit teach the University Chicago. This income therefore "outside earned income" rather than "honorarium" within the meaning the Ethics Reform Act 1989. accepted gross income exceeding the staturory cap (15% Level the Executive Schedule) because, under 3(b) the regulations the Judicial Conference implementing this statute, "outside earned income" includes only net taxable income, and therefore excludes pension contributions well the "ordinary and necessary expenses paid incurred producing this income." Some the income reported Part Ill was contributed pension plan through the Univeristy Chicago part salary reduction plan and therefore does not count for statutory purposes. Moreover, the ordinary and necessary expenses producing the income--including the cost commuting between the courthouse and the Law School, fees for parking the University, and the expenses equipment and books for Law School office--are substantial. Net taxable income less than the statutory maximum. 
(Part V): The Union League Club extends federal judges the privileges using the Club's facilities without formal membership. During charged $78 per month for these privileges during January thru June, and $83 per month from July through December. Judges pay for all meals and other services the same price members. The Committee Codes Conduct has concluded (Opinion 2071) that these privileges not entail gift element. 
(Part VII): 	Dividends and capital gain distributions from the mutual funds marked "See Part Vlll" are reinvested automatically monthly. Shares were purchased and sold the Vanguard Prime Money Market Fund occasionally. treat this checking account, and the past years not report these flows (as opposed year-end balances).
