Why I’m Suing the Justice Dept.: Its Unlawful Freedom of Info. Response
In a detailed article on her website, investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson explains why she teamed up with Judicial Watch to sue the Department of Justice. On November 19, 2014, Attkisson filed a FOIA lawsuit against the DOJ with Judicial Watch to acquire “any and all [FBI] records concerned, regarding or relating to” her, since she was targeted for investigating Operation Fast and Furious. These records are primarily FBI background checks and other records. This lawsuit is a follow-up to the FOIA request Attkisson and Judicial Watch filed against the DOJ, which was ignored. Here’s the main reason why Sharry Attkisson specifically turned to Judicial Watch for help:
“Eventually, I turned to a group that’s unmatched in terms of success in litigating Freedom of Information claims against the federal government, whether under Bush or Obama: the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch. Judicial Watch has full time, experienced legal staff dedicated to FOI work.”
