Why I’m Suing the Justice Dept.: Its Unlawful Freedom of Info. Response

In a detailed article on her website, investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson explains why she teamed up with Judicial Watch to sue the Department of Justice. On November 19, 2014, Attkisson filed a FOIA lawsuit against the DOJ with Judicial Watch to acquire “any and all [FBI] records concerned, regarding or relating to” her, since she was targeted for investigating Operation Fast and Furious. These records are primarily FBI background checks and other records. This lawsuit is a follow-up to the FOIA request Attkisson and Judicial Watch filed against the DOJ, which was ignored. Read more about this FOIA lawsuit here.

Here’s the main reason why Sharry Attkisson specifically turned to Judicial Watch for help:

“Eventually, I turned to a group that’s unmatched in terms of success in litigating Freedom of Information claims against the federal government, whether under Bush or Obama: the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch. Judicial Watch has full time, experienced legal staff dedicated to FOI work.”
