Security at US consulate in Benghazi in disarray prior to 2012 attack, emails show
Before the terrorist attacks in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11, 2012, security at the US consulate there was in disarray. In addition, the security contractor, Blue Mountain Group, was operating without a license while assigned to protect State Department personnel there. This was the result of a business partnership dissolution between Blue Mountain UK and Blue Mountain Libya. Judicial Watch helped to uncover this unfortunate news through a FOIA lawsuit, which you can read more about here.
Our Tom Fitton offered some great commentary about this discovery to Fox News:
” ‘These documents show the situation in terms of security was toxic on September 11, 2012,’ Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton told Fox News. Judicial Watch obtained the emails through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.
‘The State Department didn’t know what to do about security, all this was happening literally hours before the attack,’ he said.”
