The battle for transparency and accountability in the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups grinds on. Recently, two important developments.

As Hans von Spakovsky reports, a federal judge in Ohio has ordered the IRS to produce the names of almost three hundred groups it improperly targeted. This is big stuff. Read the judge’s order here.

And in Washington, in an ongoing FOIA lawsuit against the IRS, Judicial Watch has released more than 1000 pages of newly obtained documents revealing deepening tensions at the agency as the targeting scandal came to light. Included in the documents is an email showing former IRS official Lois Lerner in an extended discussion with a Treasury Department investigator about the growing investigation.
