Trump rips ‘fake Dirty Dossier’ used in Carter Page wiretap as proof of ‘witch hunt’ as Sarah Sanders calls Mueller probe a ‘hoax’

President Donald Trump is ripping what he calls an ‘unverified and fake Dirty Dossier’ that was part of the basis for a warrant to wiretap his former campaign adviser Carter Page as evidence there is a ‘witch hunt’ against him.

In an early morning Twitter rant on Monday, Trump railed against the dossier complied by former British intelligence operative Christopher Steele that newly-released documents show was part of the investigation into Page.

‘So we now find out that it was indeed the unverified and Fake Dirty Dossier, that was paid for by Crooked Hillary Clinton and the DNC, that was knowingly & falsely submitted to FISA and which was responsible for starting the totally conflicted and discredited Mueller Witch Hunt!,’ he wrote.

He then quoted Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton, who was on ‘Fox & Friends’ Monday morning. Fitton’s group was among those who sued for the documents related to the FISA warrant of Page.

Fitton argued the documents were classified to ‘cover up’ the fact the FBI used the unverified Steele dossier to obtain a warrant on Page.

Trump quoted Fitton extensively and went on to argue that since the dossier was used by the FBI in their request to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court for the warrant on Page that special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation is tainted.

The president again used his favorite criticism of the Mueller probe – calling it a ‘witch hunt’ against him.
