JW On Issue: Exposing Secret Service Secrecy on Government Travel

Judicial Watch v. DHS was a lawsuit brought in federal district court over Freedom of Information Act violation by the Secret Service. They would receive a FOIA request and then tell the requester to sue for records instead. We alleged that this seemed to be a “pattern or practice” out-of-step with the law. That is not how the Freedom of Information Act is supposed to function; it outlines clear guidelines for open government and transparency.
