Where’s the sunshine? Obama’s eclipse

Last week, the White House announced it will delete FOIA regulations pertaining to its Office of Administration, which archives emails and performs administrative tasks. It cited a 2009 appeals court ruling that exempted its office from FOIA regulations to explain its decision. This change in policy also coincided with Sunshine Week, which seeks to educate the American people about government transparency and accountability.  Judicial Watch was one of the government transparent groups that participated in Sunshine Week.

Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, also offered commentary on this policy change from the White House, as quoted in the article:

Tom Fitton of the conservative group Judicial Watch says that “when it became politically inconvenient, they decided they weren’t subject to the Freedom of Information Act any more.”
