Dear Ms. Baily:
The Department Defense (DOD), Freedom Information Division, Office
Litigation Support, responding your June 13, 2014, Freedom oflnformation Act (FOIA)
request for records directed the Department State (Case No. F-2014-11262). Your request
sought for any all records concerning, related notes, updates, reports created
response the September 11, 2012 attack the U.S. Consulate Benghazi, Libya. The
request also included, but not limited to, notes taken former-Secretary State Hillary
Rodham Clinton employees the Office the Secretary State during the attack and its
immediate aftermath.
The appropriate DOD components reviewed the one page document referred the
Department State for direct response you. After careful examination, certain information
has been withheld under exemption U.S.C. 552, (b)(5), which used protect inter- and
intra-agency memoranda, which are deliberative nature. Furthermore, exemption (b)(6) was
applied information that permits the government withhold information, which, released,
would constitute unwarranted invasion the personal privacy individuals.
