Trump’s speeches, debate pronouncements, tweets and rallies inflamed his increasingly rabid supporters and sometimes led to violence. And Clinton’s slippery evasions, e-mail scandal and circle-the-wagons approach to questions about pay-to-play involving the Clinton Foundation gave more ammunition to her critics, who wanted to “lock her up!”
