Legal Insurrection wins FOIA suit over David Gregory gun law non-prosecution
Legal Insurrection recently won their FOIA lawsuit they filed with Judicial Watch against the District of Columbia. This lawsuit sought to obtain any records relating to the non-prosecution of David Gregory, who held up a 30-round ammunition magazine on his show on NBC News. Before he showed the magazine on his show, NBC News was informed by the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department that it is illegal to possess a 30-round ammunition magazine, but ignored the warning. After Gregory displayed the magazine on his show, D.C. Attorney General Irvin Nathan, who is friends with David Gregory’s wife, failed to prosecute him for breaking the law. Here is a statement from Legal Insurrection summarizing the point of the FOIA lawsuit:
“And that’s the point. We never wanted David Gregory prosecuted for violating the ridiculous gun law provision, we wanted public officials to be held accountable for the unequal application of the law.”
