Race Defense in Dallas

An FBI investigation into federally funded, low-income housing contracts targets several black Dallas politicians who say the investigation is racially motivated.

Mayor Pro Tem Don Hill, council members Leo Chaney and Maxine Thronton-Reese and City Plan Commission members D’Angelo Lee, Melvin Traylor and Carol Brandon have been named in subpoenas for records confiscated by the FBI. At the root of the investigation is the charge that Lee financially benefited from projects on which he voted as a member of the Plan Commission and that he solicited other deals.

Ironically, the two politicians who have been most vocal in labeling the federal investigation ?racially motivated? have had other, well-documented troubles with the law. Both councilmen, James Fantroy and Don Hill, are in hot water with the Internal Revenue Service for owing thousands of dollars in unpaid taxes.

Still, Fantroy, not only stands by his absurd theory that the feds are after him because he is black, he has warned of violent retaliation from members of his community.

Frantroy was recently quoted in the Washington Times as saying: ?They’re going to make the Los Angeles riots look like a picnic. Why is this all just black folks??
