Mexican Government Promotes Illegal Immigration

Less than a year after publishing a booklet with safety tips for Mexicans attempting to cross the U.S. border illegally, the Mexican government is distributing hand-held satellite devices to ensure the violators complete their journey safely.

The new satellite tracking service will help rescue those who get lost or become sick crossing the desert to illegally enter the United States through a number of border crossings. Any Mexican who intends to enter the U.S. may obtain a satellite tracking device from government authorities, who predict that 200,000 devices will be distributed this year.

The Mexican official in charge of the program denies his country is promoting illegal immigration and instead is simply trying to save lives. Lots of people are looking to cross, he said, and the Mexican government wants to make sure they do not die on the way.

This is not the first time that Mexico promotes lawlessness in another country. Earlier this year Mexico’s Foreign Ministry published a 32-page book intended to help migrants cross into the U.S. Titled, “The Guide for the Mexican Migrant,” the colorful comic-book style publication offers safety tips when crossing the Rio Grande into Texas, how to avoid dehydration in the Arizona desert and migrant’s legal rights in the United States.

The book warns of the dangers in crossing the massive desert terrain that separates the two countries and offers tips such as avoiding thick clothing that could increase weight when wet, walking during times when the heat is not as intense and following power lines or train tracks when lost.
