The U.S. government prioritizes cost savings over national security by outsourcing the manufacturing of electronic passports to overseas companies, including one in southeastern Asia that has been infiltrated by communist espionage.
An alarming investigative series published by a Washington newspaper reveals how the government compromises the crown jewel of American border security—state-of-the-art passports—to, not only save money, but also make a profit.
By manufacturing the passports in places like Thailand, recently victimized by communist Chinese spies, the government agency responsible for providing the State Department with the blank booklets makes tens of millions of dollars in profits even though it’s only supposed to break even.
Responsible for the production and distribution of information products and services for all three branches of government, the Government Printing Office (GPO) basically sells out national security for profits when it comes to passports. Created by Congress nearly 200 years ago, the GPO has been in charge of creating passports used by Americans to enter and leave the country since 1926.
Even the agency’s internal watchdog, Inspector General Anthony Ogden, has warned in a report that there are significant deficiencies with the manufacturing of blank passports, security of components and the internal controls for the process.

When money is your God there is always greed, corruption, and deceit.
USA government was a once proud order. There were no unions until Nixon. Then money/salaries were placed above public service. The public service workers were paid less to attract those who wanted to serve country for higher purpose. No such persons today. Unfortunately USA is overcome with foreign interests and has NO SECURITY OR CLEARANCE. Don't bother to charge citizens for protections we do not receive; just close IRS & send tax money back to me and let the whole dam thing rot! UN, international banks, CFR, Presidents all going to save US! HA HA! V
What is next.....
I guess it won't be to far in the near future, that in order to
visit my presidents home, I will probably have to travel abroad.
Seems to me that they have just about sent everything else overseas,
why not him, because they clearly are not taking care of business
here in the US.
U.S. Passports Made Overseas
Hellooooooo- Why do we have a GPO (government printing office)????? Why do so many government decisions lack common sense?? Who are the idiots in the State Department who decided to have one of the most sensitive documents, a US passport, printed oeverseas???? He/she really ought to have their head examined. A third grader (given very basic facts) would know enough not to allow this to happen. Does the State Department really think that there won't be theft of these blank passports? Come on...get your heads out of the darkness. I do not believe that the State Department has the right to sell out on our national security and I, a citizen and taxpayer of the USA, demand that this decision be rescinded and the GPO do the printing here in our country. Your decision has comprimised our national security and you do not have the right to do that. What do you say to that?
Additionally, I think the State Department needs a good clean sweep to get rid of some people. Who adivsed the President about the illegal Mexican who murdered two teenagers in Texas? And shame on the President for listening to you. You clearly ill-advised the President and shame on him for not doing his homework. He also lacked common sense. And you wanted to hand that illegal Mexican over to the world court? Good for the State of Texas for not buckling. The world court...give me a break. We, the citizens of the USA listen to OUR courts and no world court will ever overtake our courts.
That murder out to go out the way he took those two poor teenagers out and no one should feel sorry for him or be looking to give him any kind of compensation. The persons in the State Department responsible for ill-advising the President should be fired. Then you and the President should have to go and sit with the families of those two teenagers. Shame on all of you.
National Security
I guess the State Dept has a good handle on our national security by manufacturing passports overseas.......this sounds like our border fence problem...........national security doesn't seem to be a big issue within the government.
