“The real answer is that when it comes to this letter & its signatories – it’s nothing more than a self-serving publicity stunt. These people are terrified that they themselves will lose their security clearances.

Because frankly they use to the clearance process and they use the fact that they have continued access to classified information as a club card and as a way to line their own pockets with cash. Because they use their clearance to obtain government contracts, consulting deals, memberships on boards – they’ve taken their government service and leveraged it for personal profit. And the idea that they’re no longer going to be a member of the club terrifies them.”
