Obama Says He Was A Pothead Junkie

Illinois Senator Barack Obama, who plans to run for president next year, said negative stereotypes of young black men drove him to be a cocaine-abusing “pothead junkie” when he was younger.

In a published memoir he wrote years ago, the popular Democratic lawmaker said an identity crisis arising from the realization that his life was shaped by a loving white family and negative stereotypes of young black drove him to use drugs.

Obama wrote that he was “always playing on the white man’s court and by the white man’s rules.” He went on to explain that if the principal or the coach or a teacher wanted to spit in your face, he could because he had the power and you didn’t. Refusing the defeat and lashing out at your captors, Obama wrote, would earn you the title of paranoid militant.

The Senator said that he got high to push questions out of his mind and that his junkie, pothead period was the final and fatal role of the young would-be black man. Now the 45-year-old wants to be the nation’s commander-in-chief and, as Captain’s Quarters points out, there are better grounds on which to oppose him than whether he smoked pot in the late 1970s.

One could be his strong and unethical ties to a shady political fundraiser indicted for taking hefty kickbacks on government deals. Obama’s campaigns have received big bucks from the man, Antoin Rezko, who also subsidized the senator’s $1.65 million home in Chicago’s south side.
