Abu Ghaith Goes to the Jury
Jury deliberations are slated to begin next week in New York in the trial of Sulamain Abu Ghaith—an important case, not least because he is the highest-ranking bin Laden aide to be tried in a civilian court. Abu Ghaith is charged in a conspiracy to kill Americans and provide support to terrorists. On the day after the 9-11 attacks, he sat next to bin Laden in a cave in Afghanistan and called on “the nation of Islam” to battle “the Jews, the Christians and the Americans.” In the wake of the Beslan school massacre in Russia, Abu Ghaith declared that al Qaeda has “the right to kill four million Americans, including one million children.”
