Illegal Immigrants Vote In Texas

Hundreds of illegal immigrants registered to vote and actually cast election ballots in one Texas county, canceling out the votes of United States citizens.

Election officials in the south central Texas county of Bexar, with a population of about 1.5 million and 622 precincts, have admitted that illegal immigrants somehow managed to cast ballots in elections in recent years.

Surely embarrassed by the seriousness of the situation, Bexar County officials would not reveal figures but a San Antonio news station reports that 303 illegal aliens successfully registered to vote in the last few years and dozens actually cast ballots in various elections.

Many states, including Texas, have pushed for legislation requiring voters to show a valid identification before voting. The laws have met strong opposition from Democrats nationwide who say it would keep minorities and poor people from voting.

In fact, several liberal courts and judges across the country have sided with “minority rights” groups in striking down state voter ID laws created precisely to prevent this kind of fraud. Rulings against the bills have come in Ohio, Georgia, Missouri and Arizona.

Officials in Arizona took their case all the way to the Supreme Court, after an appellate court ruled against the state’s voter ID law. The High Court unanimously upheld the law which had been approved by voters in 2004 to combat well-documented corruption throughout the state.

Despite the revelation that illegal aliens have been voting in her county, the Bexar County Elections Administrator opposes a law requiring identification at polling places because she believes it will be cumbersome and therefore discourage people from voting. The administrator is also afraid the lines will be longer and precinct workers will actually have to conduct checks.
