Kagan Helped Bill Clinton Cover Up Scandals

President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee was a key figure in covering up at least two of Bill Clinton’s scandals although the true extent of her role won’t ever be known because the files will remain secret.

The Clinton Library has released more than 40,000 pages of records from Elena Kagan’s tenure as a top White House counsel, but the most substantive material is being withheld under executive privilege by a commander-in-chief best known for getting impeached by Congress and selling trade mission seats to Chinese Communists. The crucial files were requested by the Senate Judiciary Committee as it prepares for Kagan’s confirmation hearings later this month.

The released files, available at the Clinton Library web site, reveal that Kagan was heavily involved in efforts to cover up a pair of potentially career-ending scandals that surfaced from Clinton’s tenure as Arkansas governor. Kagan stalled a sexual-harassment lawsuit against the famously corrupt former president and worked behind the scenes to make an illegal real estate scheme (known as Whitewater) disappear.

The harassment lawsuit was filed in 1994 by a former Arkansas state employee, Paula Jones, who claimed that in 1991 Governor Clinton propositioned her in a Little Rock hotel. With Kagan’s help, Clinton sought to have the suit dismissed or at least delayed until he left office. A federal appeals court as well as the Supreme Court ruled against Clinton and the lawsuit proceeded, but was eventually settled before trial.

Kagan was also deeply involved in helping Clinton prevail through a congressional probe of Whitewater, a series of illegal real estate deals in which he abused his office for political and financial gain. Kagan advocated that Clinton should not have to reveal private conversations related to Whitewater and asked his supporters to write opinion pieces favorable of the president that would appear in newspapers across the country. As a White House lawyer, Kagan was involved in handling Senate subpoenas of top Clinton officials and formulating a legal response to requests for documents and testimony.

These are just the latest skeletons to come out of Kagan’s closet. A liberal activist and political operative with no judicial experience, Kagan took millions of dollars from the Saudis as dean of Harvard Law School and a chunk of it reportedly came from 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden. She also has financial ties to Goldman Sachs, the global investment firm embroiled in a major fraud scandal.
