Liberals Question Their Own Laws
There is an interesting fact that the mainstream media has failed to mention in its coverage of how the relative of Mississippi’s Republican governor?herself an active party member?got a multi-million dollar federal contract for hurricane Katrina recovery.
Most of the articles in major publications such as the New York Times and national wire service stories point out with suspicion how Rosemary Barbour, the niece by marriage of Governor Haley Barbour, owns a mobile shower and laundry company (Alcaltec LLC) that received a $6.4 million federal contract for Hurricane Katrina recovery. The fact that Rosemary is very active in the Republican Party and served as a White House volunteer under Ronald Reagan is also prominently featured in these reports.
Overlooked, however, is the fact that Rosemary was born in Guatemala and is certified by the United States Small Business Administration as a disadvantaged small-business owner. Critical Democrats, who have scrutinized the federal contract, have failed to mention this little-known fact about Rosemary and her company. In fact, Political Cabaret points out that Democrats are questioning the affirmative action legislation their party fought for and passed.
